Valentine's Day is just around the corner, next month! While not everyone cares about Valentine's Day, and for some it is just a reminder of being single (which has it's own blessings, so don't knock that either!), I view it as a good reminder to show those you care about how much they are loved and appreciated. While this is something worth doing every day, it's not uncommon that we get busy, stressed, and sometimes take others for granted, even though we love them. Take time to spend time with the people most precious to you and make sure they know how much you love them.

You can show love to others in many ways. Five of the most common ways according to the book, The Five Love Languages, include:

1. Words of Affirmation - telling them you love them
2. Acts of Service - Doing things for them, helping out
3. Quality Time - Spending quality time together
4. Physical Touch - Sharing lots of hugs, comforting pats on the shoulder
5. Gift Giving - Giving gifts to show affection

All of us probably express and perceive love and care in a blend of more than one of these methods, but most people have a primary one or two that are their strongest and most natural expression of love toward others, and that usually matches the way that they most feel loved when they experience that thing. If you happen to be a gift giver, or if you know the person you want to express care for best feels love through gifts, then please consider items with these art designs as good options for expressing your love for others!

Art Giveaway

I have recently started doing regular art giveaways! I ran my first giveaway in December for a Christmas design, and it was really fun to see who won and give them something special! I plan to continue doing these giveaways for my email subscribers because you are special to me and I appreciate the time you take to share my love of art and the support you give me as a creator.

Giveaways are likely to take place every couple of months, and for certain holidays. In expectation of Valentine's Day coming up next month, I have created a brand new art design which I'll reveal further down, and will give away a print of this new design in time to receive it by Valentine's Day. The giveaway will not be publicly announced until next week, but since you are already on my email list, you get to know about it first! The best part is, since you are already a subscriber, you are already eligible to WIN! You don't have to do anything because you're already signed up. I will draw a winner from my list of email subscribers.

The winner will be announced on January 22nd and if you are the lucky winner, you'll get another email from me letting you know and requesting your mailing address so I can send you your prize!

The other awesome thing about being one of my subscribers, is that since you know about this giveaway early, you can give your own friends and family early access as well! Just share this link with anyone you want and they can enter their email to qualify for the drawing as well. By knowing you, they already get perks like this! But, only if you share it, so please do!

New Art Designs for Valentine's Day

I was looking through some of my photos from my time in Japan and found some beautiful photos of swans swimming in the moat outside of the Imperial palace in Tokyo. I was inspired to use one of my swan photos as a starting point for my Valentine's Day art project.

Swans are often associated with beauty, elegance, purity, and even love and fidelity in relationships in Japan. It seemed like a great Valentine's Day theme. So, I took the photo I chose and worked my magic in Photoshop to turn it into the colorful fantasy scene shown below! The kanji character shown is the Japanese word for "love," and is pronounced, "ai." I hand-painted the kanji calligraphy myself as well, that is not a typed font.

I'm happy with how it turned out, and I hope it blesses you as well. Please consider getting extra items with this design as Valentine's Day gifts for friends and family.

You can find a large selection of apparel, accessories, and home décor options at my Redbubble Shop with this design on them.

Pure Love Swans - (This is the design that you could win in the giveaway!)

The other design for this time of year is a variation on one of my past projects. I had sculpted a digital model of an abstracted seahorse form for a class in art school, which is still available as a stand-alone design here, but my wonderful boyfriend thought of putting two of them together facing each other which makes a heart shape, and I love this idea! So, I created this heart-shaped variation so that you can get stickers and accessories with this unique heart design on it which can also connect with your love of seahorses, the sea, dragons, or other creative imaginings! In whatever aspects of my designs you find appealing, my hope is that you enjoy it and it enriches your life. Let me know if you like the style!

Your Turn to Share!

That's it for now! Sorry for the long email, but hopefully it was interesting. If you can spare a couple minutes, I'd love your feedback on what you are most interested in seeing in these emails so I can tailor it to you better. My art business is still very new, so I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to connect with my readers & collectors. Tell me what you want to see in this 6 question survey HERE. THANK YOU!

Have one of my designs already?

I would love it if you would share a review or comment about what you purchased or a gift you were given and what you love about it! It really helps others to know what products are good quality and which designs deserve more attention.

If you don't mind writing a testimony about what you enjoy from my designs, I may share your comments on the website itself for others to read! Please just reply to this email with the comments you'd like to share, and include a photo to put with your statement! It can be of you or of the item or design you love, as long as you are comfortable with others seeing it publicly.

Thank you so much! Please reply back to me and let me know your thoughts and ideas! I always want to know how to improve your experience and provide what interests you most!

Sincerely,
